Here's a good good question; How may radios do you display around the house? What room(s) are the most prominent and where does your "significant other" forbide them to be?
My home office is filled, almost wall to wall with them - spread out over several bookshelves. I have two spaces in the basement (that used to be cold storage areas) that I have "converted" into radio rooms. There are about 30 other pocket radios strategically place around the rest of the house. I recently sold off alll my big tube, floor model radios that were just collecting dust in the basement. I've also thinned out some of my table top tube radios.
Here is my theory . If i display every collectable item out on shelves where i see them every day i tend to get tired of the stuff , walk by it and never really notice it anymore ( like the paint on the walls ). I dont like ``busy decor`` everywhere . I have several small tube radios out but the rest are in one room with the door shut . My transistor radios are 98% in a cabinet in my bedroom with the doors shut some in drawers . I have 2 out here today . All the sorta boring ones are in boxes in a closet . I enjoy sitting on the floor in front of that cabinet with batterys and take out and look at the transistors and play some of them at times . Sometimes i take out a couple 3 and polish them up again . I do this with my clock collection too .. several are out in my bedroom but the rest are in an antique dry sink where i sit & take them out & look at them sometimes .
Also its very frustrating to have to always dust hundreds of small items . Having them put out of site is almost like finding them all over again when i open the drawer or cabinet .
It's tough to display them all when you live in an apartment as I do, but I have about 60 transistors displayed in a lighted curio and a couple of others in a bookcase.
