I was wondering if anyone is familiar with a "little" radio I owned in the late sixties while in the service in Germany? I would like to find one. You can see a picture of one at http://members.aol.com/gaclasen/brt1000.jpg if you would like to see it. It is an AM/FM/LW/SW unit. Thanks; DaveK

Dave....I have a friend in my Grundig Satellit chat group (www.topica.com/lists/GrundigTransistorRadio) that collects Braun T1000's. He has (10) or (11). He too was stationed in Germany, I believe back in the 60's. Email me and I will forward your email to him. Mike (shootbks@nycap.rr.com)

I was at Patch Barracks outside of Stuttgart, which was the HQ for the European command. There was something like 28 Generals (or equivelent from other service branches) assigned to the base. Was there from 67 to early 69 when I had to come home due to the death of my father. Worked at the shortwave communications station off base. Was origionally assigned to Paris but that was at the time France was kicking us out. Landed in Paris and for two weeks no one could figure out where the unit I was assigned to was. Nice two weeks wondering around the area. LOL So I was there the same time as you just different place.

Item number 3088121854 just closed on E-bay -- this one went for $521.12. At least the shipping would have been cheaper out of Indiana instead of France. LOL -- Still way out of my budget for now. Guess I'll have to keep looking. Back in Germany in 1968 I did pay about $450 at the time so I guess that is reasonable?? I would estimate that would be like paying about $2000 now, for a portable radio.

My budget at the present time rules out this type of purchase. Just out of curiousity what is the current exchange rate from Euros to $ ?? When did you aquire your T1000 ? Can you tell me what is the difference between what I see listed on websites as a T1000 and a T1000 CD ?? Thanks.... DaveK Wisconsin USA

I have a Braun Station T1000 which has been in our family for many years. Just got it out of storage. It is a bit dusty but in good condition and working order. Works off batteries. Still has the original operating manual (multi-language) with a general description of radio transmissions and list of Long- Medium- and Short-Wave radio stations. Don't know whether to keep or sell.

To Bill Martin, I have a circuit diagram that could be scanned and sent to you. I have a friend's T1000 in for repair that works from a 12vDC supply, but one section of the mains transformer primary is O/C and a "phantom fiddler" has tried to fix it with disastrous results. I'm sure my friend would love to get a replacement PSU brick or alternatively, I guess he'd be open to offers. As an oldtimer radio amateur who gave upin disgust in '95, it was a pleasure to hear an OK on 80m CW two nights ago using a licked finger for an antenna. Best wishes. DaveL, former G3

Would anyone have an operating manual for the Braun T1000 CD that they could possibly scan and email to dxcoms@earthlights.net? This would be very much appreciated. Best regards, Dal

Hello David K, Your past mirrors mine! I too was stationed at Patch Barracks in Stuttgart and bought my first Braun T-1000 from Radio Barth. I am 59, will be 60 in January as I too was born in 1946. My military service started at Patch then went to Robinson to be morning man at AFN Stuttgart! http://www.grundigsw.com Click on "old radios and the Braun T-1000" you will see me in my military garb. I have 11 of these wonderful radios, I purchased them from Ebay Germany sellers over the last 4 years. Hope to hear from you. Regards, Paul
